Some of my readers may not know that I believe with all my soul, in a living Prophet of God. Just as the people in ancient times were sent prophets from God to guide, warn, and teach them; I believe that the world today is in need of, and has a true Prophet. One who leads, guides, teaches, and warns as the prophets of old. I'm so thankful for Thomas S. Monson, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his humility in undertaking his great calling, to lead me and my fellow brothers and sisters in the gospel.

These are times of uncertainty and fear, not just in the United States, but all through out the world. This weekend, a Prophet of God called all people to repentance, called them to come unto Christ, and gave us counsel and teachings to alleviate us from uncertainty and fear.
I was particularly touched by the talks I heard in the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which spoke of living a more simple life, allowing us to live the gospel of Jesus Christ more completely. I was inspired by talks given on heartfelt prayer and gratitude. And I was called to repentance by the living apostles of Jesus Christ, who spoke on the essential need to serve all those around me, to make sure I do everything I can to make sure there are no poor among us.

As I listened and watched conference this weekend, I felt the power of the "still small voice" of the Holy Spirit, as he testified of the divine calling of Thomas S. Monson, prophet, seer, and revelator.....as well as the divine callings of the 14 other men who are called to be apostles on the earth today. I hope that I can go forward, a new person, with a changed heart, to live more closely a life emulating my Savior's.
These words from the Savior keep resonating in my mind, an answer to my prayer concerning the fears and uncertainty I felt as I watched world events unfold: John 14:27 " Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
I felt that peace this weekend. My heart is untroubled and more resolved. Resolved to be better, stand a little taller, and to love my neighbor more increasingly.

Transcripts from this weekend's conference can be found at this web address starting Thursday Oct 9th. http://www.lds.org/
