Breath of Fresh Air

I remember clearly, as a child watching my parents watch the news, discuss politics, and watch debates before presidential elections. It was SO BORING! Ugh!
It was still boring last Friday during the McCain v Obama debate.
Tonight, John and I officially became boring parents, who rushed the kid to bed, so we could watch and hash over every word of the vice presidential debate. What fun! Are we old now????

Sarah Palin was a breath of fresh air. Whoever prepped her was a GENIUS. She let her small town talk slip in during appropriate places, and let her educated vocabulary carry her the rest of the way. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Gov. Palin debate, because she took every advantage to highlight herself and her running mate, as well as never giving up opportunities to show the audience the vast differences between Obama and Bidden, thereby implying instability. Her positive attitude, without blatant attacks, and focus on the future were right up my alley. I never felt she was talking just to make noise....which I can't always say for her opponent. I appreciated her concise answers and never apologizing for her firm stance on many topics, such as Marriage between a man and a woman, drilling in Alaska, decreasing government programs to decrease spending, and serious investigation into institutions such as Sally Mae and Freddie Mac.

John and I had a blast watching this debate together. We both agreed....too bad she's on McCain's ticket, he's such an Washington insider and has a foot in each camp. This woman has made many Americans look twice. Hopefully we, as a country, can reject the attitude of apathy that has crept in the last 20 years, and actually participate in civic roles to improve our lives here in the U.S.A.

Too bad Palin isn't the primary on the ticket. Hopefully her views on domestic energy and decreasing government spending will be shared by whomever the next president is. We need to cut our dependence on foreign fuel......or the word sovereign will have to take on a new meaning when we use it in reference to our country. So....in the words of Gov. Palin.....
"Drill baby, Drill!"

I think you could have a side job as a political commentator because I loved your insight. Im sad to say I didn't get a chance to watch it that night so I was so happy to get your condensed version. I couldn't agree more with your opinion of Palin. I think she hasn't been tanted by Washington and I am a sucker for a strong opinionated woman. I really hope they win. Keep your view coming I love it.

Your first paragraph made me laugh! I used to hate that too. My dad loved to yell at the TV, especially when Clinton was on. Remember when our dads would talk about politics for hours? It was so boring. It is too bad that Palin is running with McCain. My dad won't vote for him even though he loves Palin.
