This is one of my favorite books of all time!
For those of you who know me, I mainly enjoy books and movies about "girls my own age" as my dad would say it. But here it is, a book so good it breaks boundaries for me. It is about a boy, that I don't really identify with at all, and it takes place in the future and in space. NONE of that I would choose to read about, ever. That is why I always encourage people to read it, because they'll be surprised!
Let me put this out there. Orson Scott Card is an AMAZING writer. He is so good, surprising, he draws you in with words, he makes me feel more intelligent when I read his non fiction. But I only like half of what he writes. He isn't the kind of writer that I know I'll love everything he produces. The sequels to Ender's Game were torture for me. I hated his "Homecoming" series. I enjoyed his "Alvin Maker" series. I really liked his "Women of Genesis" series. NEVER read his "Lost Boys." What a waste of brain space, library space, natural resources....I could go on and on. It is trash! Weird that the whole spectrum can come from one author.
So, I say to you ALL. Read Ender's Game. Some of you may enjoy it, some of you may not. But I bet for most of you it is a departure from what you usually read. Plus it won both Hugo and Nebula Awards. Very prestigious ;)
Let me know what you think when you have finished.

We just started reading that book the other night and I really like it so far. Thanks again for all the other books, I am almost done with Lemon Tart.
My brother had me read Ender's Game a few years ago. I liked it but it wasn't as good as I was expecting...though that's because everyone was talking it up so much. I had my expectations set really high!
I read this book because of your recommendation. This was the first sci-fi type book I think I've ever read of my own free will. Travis was impressed, and I was surprised that I did actually like it. But it took some getting used to the different fantasy type scenarios.
I'm glad you liked it. It was a total suprise for me too. I think that is part of why I liked it so well.
