Oh the toddler years. We are well into the "I can feed myself, or I won't eat" stage. Love it!
Jacob is going to be 17 months old this week, on the 13th. He and I are such good friends. He is so pleasant, easy going, and even though he doesn't speak English much, I really understand him.
Today, as I had my hands buried in raw turkey meat (I was making meat loaf), Jacob decided he needed to have some mama love. Of course, at that exact moment.
Jacob: "Uh Uh Uh" (means Up, he can't say the 'P' sound yet) with out stretched arms
Me: Hands in the meatloaf mix "Sorry Jakie, no Up right now"
Jacob: Screws his face into the sorriest look you've EVER seen, and squeezes out some tears with sad sobs. Jacob learned last week to close his eyes voluntarily. Now when he wants to fool around he does that to be funny, but he also does it when he is contemplating throwing a toddler fit. So, he turns from me crying, breaking my heart, closes his eyes tight getting all ready for a toddler fit, and WALKS INTO A WALL!!!! Poor thing. Then there was real crying. So, I quickly washed my hands and held him. Needless to say, as soon as I got that meatloaf in the oven, nothing else happened, except some good mama cuddling time. I'm so lucky! Then Daddy came home to save the day. YAY!

When we brought the baby home, Jacob had to
give him a ride on the fire truck.

last day at Little Gym.
Jacob loved the gym the most.
This kid! He wanted to jump that rope so BAD.
Read em' and WEEP! This is what happens to my kitchen

He is so cute. I love little boys--they're so adventurous! And your kitchen pics, Sara--priceless!
I gave my oldest boy a doll too when I was pg with #2...when I stopped to nurse the new baby, he would get out "Mary" and feed her too. LIttle kids love babydolls!
I didn't know Jacob went to Little Gym. The one in our town just closed last week. It was pretty sad. Not enough people signed up. She tried everything to advertise too. It only opened 2 or 3 years ago.
Anyway, Jacob is getting so big! I loved Wyatt at that age. He was great until he started talking back.
Gotta love the I can do it years.. sometimes its easier to just do it for them :)
I'm Jacob's #1 fan. I love that you got him a doll...that is Jackson's favorite too right now (lucky he has an older sister)! The kitchen is so happening at my house every day too! Thanks for sharing the cute pics...
I'm really glad you're enjoying this age, because personally, it is my least favorite. I would take an 8-month-old or a 2-year-old over this. Does that make me seem like a bad mom? I still love Colin to death, but I am looking forward to 1) nursery (three more weeks!!) and 2) better verbal skills. I usually understand what he wants, but all HE understands is "no," and not the reasons for it.
Okay, now I'm thinking I need to work on enjoying him more. He makes me laugh all day long, but there are as many frustrating moments for me right now as there are cute/funny ones. I'm going to try to be better.
Oh, and thanks for posting the kitchen pictures. So nice to know I'm not alone. I think they would get along GREAT.
Jacob is getting so big! I am so sad I am missing seeing him grow...I am missing you terribly today too!
You guys are all so awesome. As a mother, of course I like anyone who likes my kid :)
I'll be honest, I get frustrated, EVERY DAY. But I think that is the battle we all have everyday. Deciding what is the best thing. It is has been hard for me to come to terms with the fact that at this time in my life, the best thing is to be with my son, hold him, read to him, teach him (we are learning boundries...aka....Mama uses the bathroom ALONE). So, many days dishes and crafts are put to the wayside. But I feel good about it at the end of the day.
Oh, and I think Collin and Jacob would be great friends too. They seem to be into the same things...EVERYTHING. :)
